Case Studies

1.  Automated Gate in Wiltshire 2011

Brief
The client had a problem with unauthorized vehicles and members of the public gaining access via the access road and private drive to their farm community and was experiencing a number of opportunistic thefts.

Solution
Our recommendation included the design, construction and installation of a traditional metal farm gate and posts across the driveway at the natural boundary which was in keeping with the adjacent park fencing. The gate posts were bedded into concrete along with a ground flush mounted 240v electro mechanical gate operator.

A 240v mains supply was picked up from the nearest house some 100 metres away and run underground to the control box sited locally to the gate and operator.

Additional infrastructure such as vehicular ground loops set into the tarmac driveway and suitably positioned push button on posts were installed to allow entry/exit of vehicles and pedestrian visitors at controlled times. Remote control transmitters were supplied for authorized users.

A pair of safety passive infra red sensors was fitted between the gate posts to detect any obstructions.

  • Deterrent to the possibility of theft and vandalism on the farm

2.  Video Door Entry and Proximity Access Control system serving eight offices – Commercial Headquarters in London 2011

Brief
The client wished to secure their main entrance pair of wooden doors for use within office hours and enhance the security to a metal gate for out of hours as well. Authorized staff needed to gain access quickly and efficiently and visitors required a means of communication with reception or relevant department with a method to permit access via remote release of the door and gate.

Solution
Link Access proposed the supply and installation of a Video Door Entry system to serve eight internal video monitors positions. A polished brass 8 push button video door entry panel was located beside the inner doors and a stainless steel version adjacent the metal gate. The panels were bespoke and incorporated a Proximity Access Control reader for authorized staff to use with issued key fobs.

An automatic switching arrangement was built into the system to switch the speech and lock circuit to the relevant door/gate in use.

To exit the building a mechanical over ride lever handle was provided for the inner doors and an exit push button for the metal gate.
